The following year I switched to my real passion, to study Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. I chose to specialize in Graphic Design, because that department offered the best possibilities to combine several disciplines that interested me, such as photography, typography, audiovisual and illustration.
Four years later, in 1997, I graduated and ever since I work as an independent art-director and graphic designer in the widest sense: concepts, communication, brand development, typography, copylines, audiovisual projects, TV commercials, vj-ing, brand experience, cultural events and last but not least: autonomous projects.
In the summer of 2007, exactly one decade later, I thought it was time for an overview of my work. Not only to share this with anyone who is interested, but also for myself, as a moment of reflection.
After an intensive period of going through my archives, it was there: a portfolio of years and years of visual communication, showcasing a selection of both commissioned and independent projects.
From here on I will continue to further develop and update this site, as a visual representation of myself. And I will move forward, searching for new ways and directions to challenge myself.
BIOGRAPHY: THE FUTURE IS HISTORY
I am an independent Art Director and Graphic Designer based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
I have always been drawing as a child and as a teenager I also started to get interested in painting and photography.
After highschool, I went a year to Spain where I studied Spanish and travelled the country, which I captured with my camera. Back in The Netherlands I studied Spanish for one more year at the University of Amsterdam and started a preparatory course at The Utrecht School of Fine Arts.
